Let's Get Fit After School Program
How it works:
Let’s Get Fit Opportunists
Dance - the benefits of dancing are like no other. It can help you lose weight, strengthen, and tone your body, increase stamina and flexibility, and improve balance and posture.
Gymnastics - helps you use your own body weight for resistance as they perform various tumbling skills such as handstands and cartwheels. It also helps you develop stronger bones, better balance, and coordination, and increases core strength. With the constant activity from practice, cardiovascular strength and stamina will improve which results in better physical fitness.
Jumps and Motions - helps burn calories while improving balance, core strength and aiding in weight loss.
Pyramids & Stunts - help with cardiovascular stamina and endurance, strength building, posture, coordination, flexibility, confidence, and team building.
Teamwork & Respect - the ability to work together with others as part of a unit is not simply a skill needed for sports, it is a crucial and vital skill used in all areas of life. Working as part of a team will strengthen your child’s social and emotional skills, help develop their communication skills and can improve confidence. Through teamwork you learn self-respect as well as giving and receiving the respect of others.
Sportsmanship - children who observe adults and other teammates conduct themselves in the proper manner when in a sport setting will gradually come to understand that the real winners in sports are those who know how to persevere and to behave with dignity — whether they win or lose a game.
Proper foods - the benefits of good nutrition for young bodies will be taught and the correct foods to eat while training for gymnastics and cheerleading will be stressed. As in any sport, diet and nutrition are essential to all athletes. A proper diet can help build strong muscles, keep your mind alert, give you energy, and enhance your performance. Cheerleading and Gymnastics are high energy sports that require fast thinking, good coordination, physical strength, and stamina. It is imperative to couple physical training with proper nutrition. Your body needs all types of nutrients including carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Carbohydrates are the body's main source of energy. Proteins are the basis for your muscles. Healthy fats help with your nerves and hormones. By including these main nutrients in your diet in moderation, children will see progress in all aspects of their body, mental capacity and physically.
